For this large dormer bungalow, we first performed a cut and fill operation to establish the required ground levels. We then excavated strip footings, which were mass filled with C35 concrete and reinforced with 10mm A393 mesh for added strength. Due to surface water issues, we installed land drains at the rear of the property to manage drainage effectively.
The structure was built using trench block, engineering brick, and blockwork up to the DPC, with a 150mm cavity to ensure excellent insulation and durability. The slab preparation involved a 150mm Type 1 MOT sub-base and a 50mm sand blinding layer, followed by Visqueen membrane for damp-proofing and 10mm A393 mesh for reinforcement. The slab was poured with C35 concrete for a strong, lasting foundation.
Additionally, we installed all foul and storm drainage systems and connected them to the main sewer, ensuring efficient and reliable waste management for the property.
This process ensured a solid, well-insulated structure with proper drainage solutions and reinforced foundations for long-term durability.
